Maximum safety thanks to innovative technologies – our constantly modernized tank fleet sets standards for contemporary and sustainable transport solutions, including product heaters.
Our motor tankers focus on low consumption and increased carrying capacity. Efficiency is not only a top priority here – it is our fuel.
Innovation and sustainability are part of our daily practice. In the same way, the focus is always on continuous further development and training – and has been since 1939, when the MS Paul Burmester was the first tanker to be launched.

Christoph Burmester founds the shipping company in Lauenburg on the Elbe. The first ship is the barge Charlotte. This is followed by MS Niederrhein and MS Ludwig Burmester
The freighter MS PAUL BURMESTER is the first tanker in the fleet to be launched. It is equipped with oil tanks and chartered out. Hard times follow due to the war. The remaining fleet is utilized for passenger transport and towing services.
The poor situation of dry goods shipping due to the war encourages Christoph Burmester to take a new, bold and far-sighted step: tanker shipping. By 1960, a total of eight motor tankers had been built.
After the death of Christoph Burmester, his three daughters take over the shipping company. Hanna Krützfeldt takes over the management of the company.
The location is successfully relocated to Luxembourg, where the efficiency and sustainability of the ships is further optimized.
Christian Büchting, a trained shipping merchant, takes over the management and initiates a consistent course of consolidation and modernization.
The first double-hull tanker, „Christoph Burmester“, goes into operation. Further double-hull tankers follow, as does the first ship in the Sunrise series: „Georg Burmester“ (2012).
The successful launch of the Sunrise series continues. The second ship, „Nicole Burmester“, confirms the reliability, ease of maintenance and fuel efficiency of this fleet.
The fleet now consists of 10 ships, 2 double-hull tankers and 8 ships of the Sunrise series in service. Welcome on board for a voyage based on tradition, quality and future prospects!
